Behind the name
Biography
Judas holds the rank of Crux Cardinalis within the Holy Crusaders, the religious order that venerates Diallos and enjoys autonomy recognised by the Empire. The Crux Cardinalis stand immediately below the Holy Monarch in its hierarchy. Judas is known as the order's Iron Fist, a reputation that reflects his military authority and the force he can bring to bear through his heavily armed battleship.
He speaks with formal courtesy but expects his authority to go unchallenged. When he contacts the SS Nightmare, he accuses the Captain of heretical conduct and demands cooperation without presenting supporting evidence. He cuts short Renoa's objections and declares that resistance will itself be treated as heresy. The Captain recognises the demand as a pretext for an armed confrontation, and Judas's response confirms his willingness to fight. This encounter establishes him as a threatening representative of a powerful religious institution whose actions can put it in direct conflict with the Empire.
