Behind the name
Biography
Operator is the human crew member who serves as the Captain's principal contact at the SS Nightmare's bridge consoles. She receives incoming transmissions, opens channels to other ships and command authorities, and maintains communications with agents deployed into Chaos. Her holographic appearances are remote transmissions from aboard the vessel.
During field operations, she monitors identification signals and biological readings, locates distress calls and reports threats detected near the teams. She helps coordinate their return through the available systems, including Waypoints and Emergency Recall, while keeping the Captain informed when a signal is lost or an extraction cannot proceed.
Her duties also extend to the safety of the ship and its inhabitants. Under the Captain's orders, she relays defence and evacuation protocols, checks available warp routes and reports on hull damage and the protection of Ark City's residential sectors. Her reports give the command team the information it needs to respond to an emergency and organise the crew's next actions.
